Talent and professional wrestler Fuwa-chan will appear on actor Masahiro Higashide's first show in the Kansai region, "Masahiro Higashide's Camping Detox" (ABC TV, Mondays 12:00-12:30 AM), which starts late at night on May 4th. Higashide and Wolf Aaron, the gold medalist in the men's 100kg judo event at the Tokyo Olympics who has turned professional wrestler, will take on a two-day, one-night "serious camping" challenge. In the wilderness where there is no cell phone reception, the three men, each from different backgrounds but pursuing their own paths, will discuss their views on life and work.
After finishing the recording, Fuwa-chan commented, "It was so much fun! I'm sad it's over. I was having a great time eating and chatting with my fun friends, and before I knew it I hadn't looked at my phone or eaten any gummies (laughs). I feel like I've really detoxed!"
"Higashide's way of life, which involves camping, has something in common with professional wrestling. Professional wrestling presents a glamorous side as an entertainment show, but behind the scenes, there is the preparation and effort of many people, not just the wrestlers. It is because of that hardship that it becomes something wonderful, which is similar to camping, and it made me realize again that it is important not to neglect the things that people don't see," he said.
Regarding his impressions of Higashide and Wolf, he said, "It might be rude to say this about a senior, but I didn't think Higashide was such a friendly and cute person. He's like a big brother to everyone! He's serious, has his own aesthetics, and is a very honest person! He listens to what everyone has to say, and if he thinks it's a new idea, he'll say 'That's good' and immediately incorporate it, so there was a lot to learn from him. I knew Wolf was a fun person, but as a 'pro wrestling contemporary,' I was able to talk to him at the closest distance I've ever been to him, and I was happy that we became friends after that. Surprisingly, men and women don't interact much in pro wrestling, so I was so happy that we could talk so openly and realize that we're on each other's side! We even exchanged elbows during the sleepover, and I felt happy and reassured knowing that 'Wolf Aaron and I are contemporaries!'"
"It's just the best to be able to make such wonderful friends as an adult!" she said, expressing her joy at working with the two, and added, "By talking to them in this kind of environment instead of just chasing after information, I was able to realize some of my own way of thinking, and I was able to absorb the way of life of others. Call me again when you start to miss Fuwa!! I'll definitely come!" expressing her eagerness to appear again.
The program will air locally in the Kansai region and will consist of four episodes. After the broadcast, it will be available for streaming on TVer and ABEMA.
