73-year-old actor Shinnosuke Ikehata will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which airs at 1 PM on April 21st.
Her father was the head of a school of Japanese dance and a Living National Treasure. She herself made her stage debut at the age of three. Her career spans over half a century, and she has played roles that transcend gender, such as a Asadora bar owner in the 2024 NHK morning drama "Omusubi" and a lawyer in the TBS drama "Shitamachi Rocket." Now in her 70s, she lives a life riddled with ear problems and injuries from falls. She also reveals episodes from her private life, including her interactions with actress Atsuko Takahata.
Her parents divorced when she was five, but later reconciled. She recalls being "at the mercy of her father." Her father strongly wanted her to inherit the school of martial arts, but she left the office at the age of 24 in search of freedom and moved to New York City alone. It was her mother, with whom she could confide anything like a friend, who encouraged her to "do what you love."
