Anime columnist Ryo Koshinarai has been appointed as an associate professor in the Department of Contemporary Business at Miyagi Gakuin Women's University (Aoba Ward, Sendai City). She is scheduled to teach courses related to fan culture and entertainment businesses such as anime.
Koshinarai is an anime columnist who has been watching over 100 anime series every week (including reruns and streaming) and posting her thoughts on all of them on her blog for about 10 years. She also studies and researches anime from an academic perspective, teaches at universities and vocational schools, and participates in program production as a program commentator and supervisor of anime information.
In 2025, she obtained a PhD in Tourism Studies from Hokkaido University Graduate School with a dissertation on cheering screenings of the "KING OF PRISM" series. She also works as a researcher at the university's Advanced Research Center for Tourism Studies, and will continue her research activities at the university even after becoming an associate professor.
