It has been revealed that a project to commemorate the 5th anniversary of the TV anime "Odd Taxi," which aired from April to June 2021, has begun. 5th-anniversary merchandise will be released, and the web radio show "ODDTAXIRADIO ~It's Feeling Good Now~," which was regularly broadcast by the producers during the show's run, will be revived for one night only. An illustration celebrating the 5th anniversary, drawn by director Kinoshita Mugen, has also been unveiled.
Scriptwriter Kazuya Koremoto commented, "It's been five years since 'Odd Taxi.' Odogawa is unsociable and not good at socializing, but every night he drives someone to their destination. Looking back, it was a little like creative work. I'm sure there are as many different five years as there are people who watched it. I think that inexplicable bad luck and inexplicable good luck have come and gone, with the former being a little more frequent. Even if you lose in terms of quantity, I hope that the quality of the occasional good fortune that comes will be as good as possible. Thank you to everyone who watched and everyone who was involved."
Director Kinoshita said, "Five years have passed since it was broadcast. I still receive positive feedback wherever I go. Thank you for watching. Odogawa may not age, but both Odogawa and I are moving forward with all our might. We will keep running. Let's do our best."
"Odd Taxi" tells the story of a taxi driver, Odogawa, whose interactions with eccentric passengers lead to the disappearance of a young girl. Although the characters are cute animals, it is actually a full-fledged mystery, and when the TV anime aired, it became a hot topic for its unpredictable plot, intricately woven foreshadowing, and quirky characters. The theatrical film "Odd Taxi in the Woods" was released in April 2022.
