It has been announced that Nippon Television's Friday Road Show (Fridays at 9 PM) will broadcast two Studio Ghibli animated films for two consecutive weeks during Golden Week. "Whisper of the Heart" (released in 1995, directed by Yoshifumi Kondo) will be broadcast uncut on May 1st, and "Kiki's Delivery Service" (released in 1989, directed by Hayao Miyazaki) will be broadcast uncut on May 8th.
"Whisper of the Heart" is a shojo manga by Aoi Hiiragi, with a screenplay written by director Hayao Miyazaki. It depicts the bittersweet love story between a girl who dreams of becoming a novelist and a boy who aims to become a violin maker. The voice of Shizuku Tsukishima, the girl who loves books, is provided by voice actress Yoko Honna, and the voice of the boy, Seiji Amasawa, is provided by actor Issei Takahashi.
"Kiki's Delivery Service" is based on the children's book of the same name by Eiko Kadono. The story follows Kiki, a cheerful 13-year-old girl, who starts living alone in an unfamiliar town in order to become a full-fledged witch, and uses her ability to fly to work as a "delivery girl." Kiki is voiced by Minami Takayama, Jiji by Rei Sakuma, Osono by Keiko Toda, and Tombo by Kappei Yamaguchi.
