The TV anime "The Pure and Lovely Girl at My New School Turns Out to Be My Childhood Friend Whom I Thought Was a Boy," based on a light novel from Kadokawa Sneaker Bunko (KADOKAWA), will begin airing in July on TOKYO MX, BS Fuji, and other channels. It has also been announced that Miharu Hanai Toki will voice Shunichi Toki , Miharu Hanai will voice Himeko Kirishima, Natsumi Haruse will voice Fuka Izumi Mitake, and Fuka Izumi will voice Saki Murao. Ikumi Hasegawa will voice the protagonist, Haruki Nikaido. A visual featuring Haruki Nikaido and the other five main characters has also been released.
Hasegawa, who plays the role of Haruki Nikaido, commented, "Haruki, the character I play, is a girl who, as the title of the work suggests, has both a refined side and a mischievous side like an elementary school boy. It was a very rewarding and fun time to play Haruki, who shows so many emotions, from joy and anger to sadness and happiness! I think viewers will be touched by how Hayato and Haruki, upon their reunion, fill in the gaps in their relationship while being confused by the changes! Please look forward to the broadcast!"
Toki, who plays Haruki's childhood friend Hayato Kirishima, said, "I think high school students are really strange creatures. They have both the intelligence of adults and the innocence of children, and they harbor a lot of feelings in their hearts, but sometimes they are unaware of them, or they deliberately try not to be aware of them. I thought this work beautifully depicts that unique atmosphere, and I think it's wonderful. I will do my best to express that atmosphere! Thank you for your support!!"
Hanai, who plays Kirishima Himeko, Hayato's younger sister and a third-year middle school student, said, "Himeko is Hayato's younger sister, and everyone calls her 'Hime-chan'! She has a cheerful and friendly personality, so I think she's the life of the party in this film, but Hime-chan also has worries that she can't tell anyone. I hope you'll enjoy the film, including that aspect!"
Haruse, who plays Minamo Mitake, a classmate of Hayato and Haruki and a member of the gardening club, commented, "When I met Minamo-chan at the audition, I felt she was as cute as a small animal, and very kind and warm like a mother, and I immediately became very fond of her. When I heard that I had passed the audition, I was truly happy. I put my heart into playing Minamo-chan, who lives each day to the fullest. Thank you for your support!!"
Izumi, who plays Murao Saki, the shrine maiden at the shrine in Tsukinose, Hayato's hometown, said, "The exquisite sense of distance and relationships among kids of this age...! It's irresistible...! They are all kids who think about many things when interacting with others, and I think they are great despite being so young. They are wonderful kids. Among them, Saki is truly pure, honest, a good and cute girl, she has a strong core and is full of passion, and the more you get to know her, the more you want her to be happy. I hope that while you enjoy the anime, you will also keep an eye on Saki!"
This work is a light novel written by Hibari-yu and illustrated by Shiso. The story follows Kirishima Hayato, who transfers to a high school in the city and reunites with a male friend he made an important promise with in his childhood seven years ago, only to find that his friend has grown into a beautiful young girl. The story depicts a romantic comedy between Kirishima Hayato and his childhood friend, Nikaido Haruki, who was formerly his "male friend" but is now a "beautiful girl."
