The 10th episode of the NHK Taiga drama "BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!)" (NHK General, Sundays at 8 PM, etc.), starring actor Taiga Nakano, titled "Nobunaga's Entry into Kyoto," aired on March 15th, and viewers were thrilled when several "big names of the Sengoku period" made appearances towards the end.
"BROTHERS IN ARMS (Toyotomi Brothers!) " is the 65th Taiga drama. With Toyotomi Hidenaga (Koichiro) as the protagonist, it depicts the miraculous feat of unifying Japan together with his older brother Hideyoshi (Tokichiro) through their strong bond, a success story of dreams and hopes.
In episode 10, Nobunaga ( Masaki Suda Shun Oguri ) finally conquers Mino, and Hanbei (Masaki Suda) becomes a retainer of Fujikichiro (Sosuke Ikematsu).
Meanwhile, Akechi Mitsuhide (Kaname Jun), sent by Ashikaga Yoshiaki (Onoe Ukon), visits Nobunaga. He asks Nobunaga to defeat the Miyoshi clan, who assassinated the previous shogun, and march to Kyoto to install Yoshiaki as shogun. Nobunaga agrees to the request and makes peace by marrying his sister, Ichi ( Aoi Miyazaki ), to Asai Nagamasa ( Ayumu Nakajima Ayumu), who is an obstacle to his march to Kyoto. Before her marriage, Ichi asks Koichiro (Nakano) to do something for her... and the story unfolds from there.
Towards the end, Nobunaga sends letters to the daimyo of various provinces, requesting that they have an audience with Yoshiaki, who has been appointed the 15th Shogun by the Imperial Court. The recipients of Nobunaga's letters are Takeda Shingen (Masahiro Takashima), Uesugi Terutora (later Kenshin, Junya Kudo), Asakura Yoshikage (Shingo Tsurumi), Chosokabe Motochika (Hiroyuki Isobe), Araki Murashige (Tortoise Matsumoto), Matsunaga Hisahide (Hisahide Matsunaga), and Tokugawa Ieyasu ( Kohei Matsushita). Nobunaga then declares, "I will unite Japan. I will unify the country!"
On social media, viewers reacted with comments such as, "The Tiger of Kai!", "Oh, it's Takeda Shingen!", "It's Araki Murashige!", "It's rare to see Chosokabe Motochika in a historical drama," and "Oh no, Matsunaga is going to steal the show (lol)."
