A preview screening for the NHK Asadora drama "Kaze,Kaoru " (General TV, Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM and others), which begins on March 30th and stars actors Ai Mikami and Juri Kosaka , was held at the NHK Broadcasting Center in Shibuya, Tokyo on Getsuku. Yoshizawa Tomoko, who is in charge of the script, spoke about the appeal of Mikami and Uesaka in an interview after the press conference.
"Kaze,Kaoru" is a buddy drama set in the Meiji era, featuring two trained nurses, Ozeki Chika and Suzuki Masa. The two graduated from the same nursing school, but struggle with how to interact with patients and doctors, and grow through clashes before eventually becoming the "strongest buddy." Migami plays the main character, Ichinose Rin, and Uesaka plays Oya Naomi.
Yoshizawa said that she had always wanted to do a female buddy story. "Rin and Naomi aren't always right, and I wanted to make the protagonists make mistakes. When they make a mistake, it's a buddy story, so it's reassuring even during the scriptwriting process," she said.
Regarding the acting of Mikami, who plays one of the buddies, he said, "He's very real. He's not vague, and his acting is very realistic, so even when he says something quite comical, you really feel like it's coming from a real person. He has a very expressive face, so I felt like I could trust Mikami and write the script without relying too much on his lines." He exuded confidence.
Regarding Uesaka, he praised her, saying, "She has a truly beautiful presence. She exudes a clean air, and although (the character she plays) is an orphan in difficult circumstances, you can sense her honesty and cheerfulness, as if she's not rotten at heart. There are some pretty harsh words and lines that seem to curse the world, but Uesaka's clean-cut demeanor is a great help."
She said that the footage of the scenes in which Mikami and Uesaka co-star has not yet been completed, and revealed, "I have only seen the two of them actually cross paths on set, but I am looking forward to it too. I am still imagining how the two of them will walk together as I write the script."
"The Kaze,Kaoru" will start on NHK General TV and other channels from March 30th.
