The visual for the final chapter of the TV anime "Golden Kamuy," based on Satoru Noda's manga, "Goryokaku Arc," has been released. It features Hijikata Toshizo and the tagline, "At Goryokaku, dreams end, and new dreams begin."
Episode 59, "Our Kamui," will air on March Getsuku on TOKYO MX and other channels. As Sugimoto and his friends prepare to attack the 7th Division and search for the gold, they join forces with partisans led by Sophia, with whom Hijikata had promised cooperation. As Hijikata had predicted, they then discovered the title deed to a piece of land in Hokkaido at a site they dug using Hijikata's tattoo as a clue. Learning that the gold was used to protect the land, Asirpa rejoices, realizing that she and her ancestors shared the same ideas. Sugimoto and his friends are unable to hide their disappointment, but the contents of the title deed reveal new facts.
"Golden Kamuy" is a manga that was serialized in "Weekly Young Jump" (Shueisha) from 2014 to 2022. It depicts the story of "Immortal Sugimoto," a former hero of the Russo-Japanese War, who discovers clues to buried treasure hidden by a death row inmate in Hokkaido and embarks on an adventure with Ainu girls. The series has sold over 30 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired from April to June 2018, the second from October to December of the same year, and the third from October to December 2020. The fourth season began airing in October 2022, was on hiatus from November, but resumed in April 2023 and aired until June of the same year. The final season is currently airing on TOKYO MX and other channels.
