It has been announced that the latest Pierrot Magical Girl series TV anime, "Magical Sisters Lullutto Lily," will begin airing on April 5th on TOKYO MX, ABC TV, TV Aichi, and other stations. It will be broadcast in two seasons. It is also attracting attention as this will be the first new Pierrot Magical Girl series TV anime to be broadcast in about 28 years, since the fifth series, "Magical Stage Fancy Lala," which aired in 1998.
It was also announced that Jun Kasama, Megumi Ohara, and Aya Endo will appear as additional cast members. Kasama will play Nonoyama Keiichi, the father of Nonoyama Kaze and Nonoyama Ryu, Ohara will play their mother, Nonoyama Shio, and Endo will play Hinoura Mari, the manager of the cafe Dubu Dubu, located next to Production One More.
Kasama commented, "This is the latest installment in Studio Pierrot's magical girl series! I never imagined I'd be a resident of the world of the story, and even their father! So I'm nervous and excited every time we record. Even though they are magical girls, they are still young and impressionable. I will work hard together with Ohara, who plays Shio, to create a home where Kaze and Nagare can feel safe and comfortable. Not only will I love the girls' exciting performances as magical girls, but they are also very cute and charming as daughters and sisters at home, so I hope you will pay attention to them."
Ohara said, "I am very happy and honored to be able to take part in Studio Pierrot's works, which I have loved since I was a child, including ' Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel Creamy Mami'. The role I play is the mother of Nagare and Kaze, a married couple who run a Japanese sweets shop. I am also a mother of two children in real life, so the dubbing is an extension of my daily life and I am acting naturally. Despite the sparkling magical world, the work can be enjoyed by people of all ages, as it depicts the inner conflicts each character has and the realizations they come to through self-dialogue. I hope you will look forward to it."
Endo commented, "I've watched all the previous series, so I'm very happy to be in this magical space. I find myself coming across special moments that make me smile, and I'm soothed by the interactions between the slightly mysterious characters. So, what kind of character will I be playing, Hinoura Mari? Stay tuned!"
It was also announced that the unit "Lulutto Lily," consisting of the main characters Lily and Lulu, will be in charge of the ending theme song "Calling." The second main promotional video using the song has been released on YouTube.
"Magical Sisters Lullu Lily" depicts the story of Nonoyama Kaze, an innocent elementary school student, and Nonoyama Ryu, a modest but hardworking middle school student, who use their magical powers to become idols. Kaze and Ryu were close sisters, but the distance between them had been growing. One day, Kaze encounters a mysterious spaceship and is granted magical powers. Meanwhile, Ryu also gains magical powers. Kaze and Ryu transform into the adult forms they had always dreamed of, but there are rules: "The deadline is one year" and "No one must know about the magic," so they each begin to work as idols, unaware of each other's secrets. Kaze transforms into Konpeto Lily, and Ryu transforms into Mashururu.
Shintaro Dokai, who has worked on "Arknights [Perish in Frost]" and other titles, will serve as director and will also be in charge of character design. Yuko Kakihara will be in charge of series composition and scriptwriting. The cast will include Mei Tachibana as the younger sister, Kaze Nonoyama, and Nao Ojika as the older sister, Nagare Nonoyama, as well as Ai Kayano, Fuka Izumi, and Fuu Hirohara.
The Pierrot Magical Girl series was broadcast with the first series, "Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel Mami," airing from 1983 to 1984, the second, "Magical Fairy Persia," from 1984 to 1985, the third, "Magical Star Magical Emi," from 1985 to 1986, the fourth, "Magical Idol Pastel Yumi," in 1986, and the fifth, "Magical Stage Fancy Lala," in 1998. The characters from the first series, "Creamy Mami, the Magic Angel Mami," designed by Akemi Takada, are also popular, and continue to be loved in the Reiwa era, with toys and merchandise being released.
