Freelance announcer Aika Kanda attended the "Gohiki! Sanriku Joban Campaign 'Sanriku Joban Eat Fair 2026'" presentation held at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (Chiyoda, Tokyo) on February 24th. It was announced that she will be the ambassador for the fair.
The "Sanriku Joban Eat Fair 2026" is an initiative that began in 2022 to promote the appeal of seafood from the Sanriku Joban area. This year, original products created in collaboration with seven major convenience stores, family restaurants, and supermarkets will be released nationwide.
Kanda, who has a hobby of fishing and has obtained a "First Class Small Boat Operator's License," said, "I was originally an announcer at NHK, but I left NHK to go sea fishing and got it right away. I've fished in Hachijojima and the Genkai Sea, but not off the coast of Sanriku, so I definitely want to take this opportunity (to go)." He smiled and said, "It didn't turn into a job for me, so it's been a while since I've thought it was good that I got it (laughs)."
After tasting the products of the fair, when asked who she would like to eat them with, she replied, "I'd like to say my husband, but he goes to eat them himself (laughs)," and her husband, Himura Yuki of the comedy duo "Bananaman," answered "my mother," citing the fact that he travels all over the country for the filming of a gourmet program. Himura said, "I think she'll be very jealous (of this event). She's the type of person who is jealous of everything," drawing laughter.
The press conference was also attended by the comedy duo "Arco & Peace" and Yamakawa Ui from the idol group "Sakurazaka46."
