Entertainers Tsutomu Sekine and Kazuki Kosaka will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 pm on January 30th. Both are over 70 years old.
The two have been affectionately known as "Kosakin" for about half a century. Along with footage of Sekine's appearance 40 years ago, they will reveal the story behind the formation of the group and the hardships they faced as beginners. Kosaka served as a host on a rival program to "Tetsuko's Room" for many years, but says that the show did not go well at all when it first began. They will reveal, with some impersonations, the advice they received from their mentor, Kinichi Hagimoto, and actor Shintaro Katsu.
Last year, Sekine celebrated his 50th anniversary in the entertainment industry and tried his hand at rakugo for the first time. He performed a creative rakugo piece that incorporated his own "worries," and it was a huge success. Sekine still dotes on his two grandchildren, and visits their homes in the neighborhood to look after them, which he says is a source of comfort to him every day. As he reminisces about his daughter Mari's childhood and talks about life with his grandchildren, we get a glimpse of the kind grandfather he really is.
