Hayase learns from Ichika (Toda Erika) that Natsumi (Yamaguchi Sayaka), who was in charge of accounting for Goroku's (Kitamura Yukiya) organization, had been diverting money to Gido and using it for herself. Hayase is also shocked to hear from Detective Adachi Tsubasa (Makita Aju) of the First Investigation Division that Natsumi had been having an affair with Kaieda (Sakami Kaoru).
In order to get information about Natsumi, Hayase visits Hayase Pastry Shop as Gido. He learns from her mother, Yoshiko (Harada Mieko), that she had secretly borrowed money from Natsumi to keep the shop running. Yoshiko admits that she had borrowed about 15 million yen, and reveals that Natsumi had told her not to tell anyone, saying, "Riku making delicious cakes is what makes me happiest, so please don't worry me."
"I've been causing you so much trouble, Natsumi-chan." As he listened to Yoshiko's story, Hayase could no longer contain himself and looked down. "What's wrong?" Yoshiko asked worriedly. Hayase turned to the side so that Yoshiko couldn't see his face. A single tear spilled from his right eye, and he wiped it away so she wouldn't notice, saying, "I wonder how you managed to come up with such a large sum of money, Natsumi-san."
On social media, people were talking about how "Suzuki Ryohei's acting in the reboot is amazing.
