The fourth episode, "Memories of the Alleys," of NHK BS and NHK BS Premium 4K's "Rouge: The Secret Pleasures of Kyoto People" (Sundays at 10 p.m.), starring Moeka Hoshi, will be broadcast on January 25th.
◇The story of "Raku" Hoshi Moeka and "Sanhachiko" Tokiwa Takako
"Kyoto People's Secret Pleasure Rouge - Inheritance" depicts the issue of "succession" at Kurakuya Harunobu, one of Kyoto's most established Japanese confectionery shops, boasting a 240-year tradition. Miyako (Hoshi Moeka), who grew up in Paris, is asked by her father, Mikami Takeru (Ishimaru Kanji), if she would like to take over the long-established confectionery shop. She ends up moving into her stepmother, Miyako (Tokiwa Takako),'s family home, Kurakuya Harunobu, and begins living with Tsuruko (Ginpocho).
In episode 4, Raku and Shuuko (Morita So) are passionately told by Izuki Hodayu (Danda Yasunori), the head of a long-established kimono shop, about how Muromachi was once prosperous and how it remains the center of Japanese kimono culture. Raku is a little put off by his typical Kyoto personality, but Tsuruko (Ginpucho) reveals some surprising inside information about Hodayu. According to Sanhachiko (Tokiwa Takako), people born into long-established businesses suffer from a "disease that makes them not want to take over the business." Raku visits Nishijin, where his mother lives, and meets Mitsuharu (Uesugi Shozo).
"Kyoto People's Secret Pleasures Rouge - Inheritance" is set in the long-established Japanese confectionery shop, Kuraya Harunobu. The story is set eight years after Sawafuji Sanya, the "Kyoto person among Kyoto people" depicted in "Kyoto People's Secret Pleasures," which aired five times irregularly from January 2015 to May 2017, left for Paris. The story revolves around the new heroine, Mikami Raku, and Sanya, and depicts the heavy burden of "inheritance" that weighs on the people of Kyoto. There are nine episodes in total.
