Actress Tomoko Yamaguchi will appear on "Sunday First Time I Heard It" (MBS/TBS), which will air from 10:25 p.m. on January 18th.
Yamaguchi, the "Heisei era's ratings queen" who achieved a viewership rating of 36.7% for the drama "Long Vacation" (1996), had zero drama or movie appearances in the eight years since Long Vacation. Despite the huge popularity of the show, she revealed her surprising thoughts, saying, "I just felt really sorry," and revealed the truth of what happened at the time.
Yamaguchi, who had felt inferior as she climbed the ladder to stardom, took action at that time, driven by a burning desire to study and see more of the world. She also shares her thoughts on her travels, which have taken her to over 30 countries over the past 30 years.
Her husband, Toshiaki Karasawa, watched over her silently throughout that time. They met on the set of the NHK morning drama "Jun-chan's Cheer Song" in 1988, and she talks about her first impression of him, how important he is to her now, 30 years into their marriage, and the secret to their happy marriage.
The couple then decided to go independent from the agency they had been with for 30 years. "I decided to go back to my roots on my 60th birthday," he confesses, and also reveals his thoughts on "LISTEN.", the project he has dedicated his life to.
