The drama series "Punch Drunk Woman - Only XX Days Left to Escape" (NTV, Sundays at 10:30 PM), starring actress Ryoko Shinohara, has released a synopsis and stills for the second episode, which will air on January 18th.
"Are you enjoying life?" - Kozue Fuyuki (played by Shinohara), a prison guard who serves as the head of the "female ward" at Hikawa Detention House, has her daily life turned upside down by the arrival of Reiji Kusaka (played by Jesse), who has been transferred to the ward on suspicion of murdering his father. Kozue begins to become disturbed by Reiji's words as he begins to behave problematically.
Meanwhile, a fight breaks out in the women's ward. Taking advantage of the confusion, someone steals Kozue's tablet. The tablet contains data on inmates and staff, as well as confidential data such as court records. The head of the treatment department, Koyanagi Taisuke (Ukaji Takashi), pursues Kozue to find her responsible, and Kozue resolves to "take disciplinary action if they can't find the culprit," and begins to search for the culprit.
Meanwhile, Reiji contacts Hiroyasu Yoroizuka (Yamato Kawachi), a death row inmate in solitary confinement, and proposes escaping from prison. Yoroizuka then says he needs a tablet. Who on earth stole the tablet? And what is their purpose...?
The drama is an original story inspired by a true story from overseas, in which a female prison guard helped a male inmate escape and ran away with him. The script is by Yoshihiro Izumi, who has worked on "Laughing Matryoshka" and other works, and the director is Tsuyoshi Nakakuki, who has worked on "The Unforgettable 'I'" and "Secret Mitsuko-san," and Seiichi Nagumo, who has worked on "Waru" and "The Reluctant Preacher."
