The popular NHK variety show "Bura Tamori" (General), in which celebrity Tamori visits various towns, will air a segment titled "Lake Biwa Cruise: Why Has Lake Biwa Remained Japan's No. 1 Lake?" from 7:30 pm on January 17th. Tamori is said to be extremely excited about the special cruise that explores the mysteries of Lake Biwa in Shiga Prefecture.
The setting for this journey is Lake Biwa, the largest lake in Japan. What is the surprising reason why it has been able to maintain its enormous size since it was born 4 million years ago? By comparing the fertile grain-producing areas to the east with the towering mountains to the west, we will unravel the secret of Lake Biwa's longevity.
We will also take a closer look at the small island that holds the key to the creation of the huge Kitako Lake, and the amazing topography that spreads across the lakebed.
Tamori's travel partner will be NHK Hiroshima announcer Mana Sato, and the narration will be provided by singer-songwriter Aimyon.
