The final chapter of the TV anime series "Attack on Titan, " based on the popular manga by Hajime Isayama, "The Final Season," will be shown again in theaters from January 16th. Following the screening, Hiroshi Kamiya , who plays Attack on Titan Ackerman, spoke about his thoughts on the series and Levi.
-- " Attack on Titan" continues to be a work that continues to be supported worldwide, with the movie version being scheduled for re-release. It's been a while since the final episode of the anime was recorded, but has your perception of the work changed in any way?
As someone who has been involved with the work for a long time, I cherish the sensations I had in real time, so for now, there has been no change in the way I see or feel it. However, as more time passes, there is a possibility that a gap will emerge in the perceptions of those who encounter the work for the first time in each era and those who were born in the same generation when it was first made. I hope to continue watching over it until I can sense the difference in perception.
--Levi fought to the end of the battle between heaven and earth, even though he was completely injured. Please tell us if there was a scene that left an impression on you.
To be honest, I never thought Levi would survive until the end. That's why the scene where he reports the whereabouts of the sacrificed heart at the end of the battle left a last impression on me. On a different note, the scene created by action animator Imai (Arifumi) is symbolic of this work, and I remember having a lot of fun dubbing it.
--Levi has said goodbye to many of his comrades in arms, but is there any scene that stands out in your memory?
The end of Erwin and Hange, who fought alongside him, was memorable.
-- "Attack on Titan" ended with more than just a happy ending, but one that left a lasting impression. How do you view the ending of the story?
Human desires are inexhaustible, and when they let go of their restraints, we resort to the most foolish of means: fighting. The trigger for this may be desire itself, or anger or fear.
"Attack on Titan" is a manga that depicts humanity's desperate battle against giants with overwhelming power. It is Isayama's debut work, and began serialization in September 2009 as the inaugural title of "Bessatsu Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha), with the final episode airing in April 2021. The comic has sold over 140 million copies worldwide.
Season 1 of the TV anime aired from April to September 2013, Season 2 from April to June 2017, and Part 1 of Season 3 from July to October 2018. Part 2 of Season 3 aired from April to June 2019, Part 1 of the final chapter, "The Final Season," aired from December 2020 to March 2021, Part 2 from January to April 2022, the final episode (Part 1) aired in March 2023, and the final episode (Part 2) aired in November 2023.
"Attack on Titan: The Final Chapter - The Last Attack" was released on November 8, 2024, and was a hit, attracting over 1 million viewers.
