On January 13th, voice actor and actor Kenjiro Tsuda attended the production announcement for the Fuji TV drama series "Ramune Monkey" (Wednesdays at 10pm, starting on the 14th), in which he stars alongside Takashi Sorimachi and Nao Nao Omori, held at Nihon University College of Art (Nerima Ward, Tokyo). When asked by a fourth-year university student what he should be doing now, he revealed, "Do you feel like you're ready to graduate? No, I've been at university for seven years. My university life has been longer than elementary school."
He explained that it took seven years because "I took a leave of absence from school, and I also started acting in the middle of it," but said that graduating in four years "is an accomplishment in itself."
She continued, "At that age, I had an incredible ability to absorb information, and I was exposed to a fairly large amount of what I studied, movies I saw, music, and novels. Watching so many different things, regardless of genres I liked or disliked, has become the foundation for my own expression," sharing her experience, and offering some advice: "I hope you do your best in the time you have now."
The drama is based on an original story and is written by Furusawa Ryota, known for works such as "The Confidence Man JP." The story is a "youth-recovering human comedy" that depicts the reunion and rebirth of three middle-aged men with different appearances and personalities: Yoshii Yuta, also known as "Yun," played by Sorimachi; Fujimaki Hajime, also known as "Chen," played by Omori; and Kikuhara Kisuke, also known as "Kinpo," played by Tsuda. This marks Tsuda's first lead role in a terrestrial TV drama series.
Kiryu Aso will play Miyashita Misa, the film club advisor teacher whom the three admired 37 years ago, and Fukumoto Riko will play Nishino Hakuba, a waitress at Gandhara Coffee, where the three go. The first episode will be extended by 15 minutes.
