Additional cast members have been announced for the TV anime "Tune In to the Midnight Heart," based on the romantic comedy manga by Igarashi Masakuni currently serialized in "Weekly Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha), with voice actors Yuki Wakai and Nao Toyama joining the cast. Wakai will play Aiko, the true intention of Inohana Rikka, who aspires to become a singer, and Rikka's best friend and former bandmate, while Toyama will play Ao Hyakusai, the ace of the VTuber group "BLUE-BOX."
Wakai commented, "Aiko is a childhood friend of Rikka, and they both worked hard together to become singers. Although she can be strong-willed, you can sense her strong conviction in her dreams. I myself have always wanted to be a singer, and have played the guitar and sang on the street, so I feel a strong sense of sympathy for Aiko, and I would like to do my best to portray Aiko in a way that only I can! I hope you will all enjoy the role!"
Higashiyama said, "This is a work that you won't be able to take your eyes off of as everyone moves forward step by step in pursuit of their dreams, and as the story unfolds around a single mystery! I will do my best to portray the sparkle of Ao, the hugely popular Vtuber! I hope you will also enjoy the anime "Let's fall in love with 100-year-old Ao that will never fade for 100 years!"
"Tune In to the Midnight Heart" is a manga by Igarashi, who is known for works such as "Senryu Girl," which was also adapted into a TV anime, and began serialization in the magazine in September 2023. It is a romantic comedy about Yamabuki Arisu, a second-year high school student searching for a streamer named Apollo, whose face and real name she does not know, and who meets four beautiful girls in the broadcasting club of the high school she is attending, all of whom dream of working in a voice-related job. It will begin airing on January 6th in the new anime slot "Kaanibal!!" on Kansai TV and Fuji TV at 11pm on Tuesdays.
