NHK Special will air "Chasing the 'Mysterious Crab' Worth 5 Million Yen a Fish! The Story of Noto Fishermen's Revival" on January 1st at 10 PM on NHK General TV. The documentary follows fishermen as they rise up in search of the premium brand crab "Kagayaki," which is said to be "only one in 60,000 crabs."
There is a "mythical crab" that lies dormant in the Sea of Japan in winter, and is worth a maximum of 5 million yen per crab. This is the super-large, top-quality brand crab "Kagayaki," which has cleared strict conditions and is said to be only one in 60,000 crabs.
Fishermen from the Noto Peninsula head out into the winter Sea of Japan in search of the ultimate snow crab and a chance to make a fortune. Having lost so much in the earthquake two years ago, each fisherman has their own feelings about the legendary crab. This is a long-term record of the fishermen's efforts to make a comeback in the sea. Who will get the "legendary crab"?
The program will be narrated by actor Takao Osawa.
