The New Year's Day special episode 10, "Finale," of the popular detective drama "Aibou Season 24" (TV Asahi, Wednesdays at 9:00 PM), starring Yutaka Mizutani and Yasufumi Terawaki, will air from 9:00 PM to 11:15 PM on January 1, 2026. Guest appearances by Yasunori Danta, Mari Hamada, and Kanato Tsukishiro will also be made.
It's Christmas Eve. Ukyo (Mizutani) and Kaoru (Terawaki) are heading to a hotel on the remote island of Hijirijima with Miwako (Suzuki Sawa) and Koide Mari (Moriguchi Yoko). Mystery writer Shosuke Mimasaka (Danda) has received a threatening letter from someone and has invited Ukyo, the Metropolitan Police Department's most renowned detective, to the hotel where he is holding an event.
There is a legend that on Hijiri Island, "five people were sacrificed to exorcise evil spirits." Based on this legend, Mimasaka wrote a mystery novel in which five men and women are killed one by one. It was so popular that it was made into a series.
When Ukyo and his friends arrive at the hotel, they are greeted by Mimasaka's manager, Sagami Mai (Tsukishiro), and Masumoto Fumiya (Mori Koji Ishizaka), who is attached to the National Police Agency Commissioner General's Office. It seems he has some sort of connection with Kosaka Midori (Kurosawa Asuka), the publisher in charge of Mimasaka...
Suddenly, they hear the sound of one of the event participants arguing with a hotel employee, Hidaka Sakurako (Hamada). The situation is resolved with the mediation of Ando Masahiko (Tanida Ayumu) from the publishing company, but an uneasy atmosphere is beginning to hang in the air.
After the event, the group meets Mimasaka and hears the details of the threat. The threatening letter read, "Give me a bloody night," and its style closely resembles an illustration from one of Mimasaka's novels. While it may seem like bad humor, Mimasaka has recently been subject to slander and abuse from radical fans, and has even been attacked, resulting in a police incident. As a precaution, he explains, he has requested the Special Investigation Unit to investigate.
Meanwhile, one of the people involved is murdered in a locked room, but this is just the beginning of the tragedy.
