It has been announced that a "Gintama Pre-Entry Character General Election" will be held for the new animated film "New Theatrical Edition Gintama: Yoshiwara Daienjo," based on Hideaki Sorachi's popular manga "Gintama." The new film is a brand new anime adaptation of "Yoshiwara Burning Arc," one of the most exciting and memorable episodes in the original manga's history. The story is set in the underground red-light district of Yoshiwara, where Gintoki, Shinpachi, and Kagura of the Yorozuya family enter a city that has lost its light and is now under the control of the "King of the Night," Housen. Directed by Naoya Ando and produced by BN Pictures, the film is scheduled for release on February 13, 2026.
