An event for the anime " The Apothecary Diaries ," based on the light novel by Natsu Hyuga that originated on the novel submission site " Shosetsuka ni Naro ," was held on December 14th at Animate Hall BLACK in Animate Ikebukuro Main Store (Toshima Ward, Tokyo), with Aoi Yuki , who plays Maomao , and Takeo Otsuka, who plays Jinshi, in attendance. Yuki and Otsuka spoke about the third season of the TV anime and the first movie version of the anime.
The third season of the anime will be split into two seasons, with the first season airing on Nippon Television in October 2026 and the second season starting in April 2027. The film version will be released in December 2026. It is also attracting attention for being an entirely new story, with the original author, Natsu Hyuga, in charge of the story concept.
Yuuki expressed her expectations, saying, "Up until the second season, the staff worked with love on how to express the original work in the anime, but the movie is a completely new work in which the original author, Natsu Hyuga sensei, created the story with the assumption that it would be made into an anime. We don't know the specific details yet, but we are very much looking forward to seeing what mysteries await Maomao."
Otsuka said, "The first season of the third season will be released in October 2026, followed by the movie in December, and the second season in April 2027, so we'll be able to enjoy The Apothecary all the way through! It's amazing, isn't it? Hints about the sequel are scattered throughout the sequel announcement PV, so I hope you'll consider that as well. The visuals used when the third season and the movie were announced were apparently created with a focus on the story of the movie. The event was attended by approximately 200 fans who purchased the fourth volume of the second season's Blu-ray Disc (BD) and were selected by lottery. Yuuki and Otsuka looked back on the first and second seasons and also announced their "best XX scene."
The light novel version of "The Apothecary Diaries" is published by Hero Bunko (Imagica Infos), and its comic adaptation has also gained popularity. The original series has sold over 45 million copies in total. The story is set in the glamorous harem of a certain continent, where a young poison Maomao and the handsome harem manager, Jinshi, become embroiled in an incident that unfolds in a harem filled with conspiracies and rumors. The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2023 to March 2024, and the second season aired from January to July 2025.
