It has been announced that Nagaya Haruko, vocalist and guitarist of the four-member band Ryokuoushoku Shakai, will be appearing in the extended final episode of the fifth season of the drama "Emergency Interrogation Room," which will air on December 18th (TV Asahi, Thursdays at 9pm). The series will conclude with the theatrical release of "Emergency Interrogation Room THE FINAL" on the 26th, and this will be the "final" episode of the drama series. Nagaya from Ryokuoushoku Shakai, who has been in charge of the theme song since the fourth season (2021), will make a guest appearance. As a key character making her first appearance, she will also be taking on her first full-fledged acting role.
"Emergency Interrogation Room" is a popular series in which the Metropolitan Police Department's "Emergency Response Investigation Team (commonly known as Kintori)," led by Yukiko Makabe, a self-made interrogator played by Yuki Amami, engages in a psychological battle of back and forth with numerous violent criminals. The final episode continues from the previous episode (episode 8), in which Kintori attempts to solve a gun shooting incident at the police academy.
Nagaya will play Yamagami Aya, the wife of Yamagami Yoshiharu (Kudo Asuka), a detective from the First Investigation Division who cooperated with Kintori in the investigations of the fourth season and the New Year's Special (2022). She will also play an important character who knows the past of police academy instructor Takigawa Takahiro (Tamayama Tetsuji).
Nagaya also made a cameo appearance in the sixth episode of season four as a police officer. "Just like when I appeared in season four, I thought I would only have one line. But when I read the script, I was surprised at how many lines there were, as I had never done any serious acting before! At first I was hesitant, wondering if I was the right person to play this role. But after talking with the staff, I thought, 'The wonderful Kintori team has trusted me and entrusted me with this role!' and decided to give it a go," she said of how she ended up appearing in the show.
On the day of filming Nagaya's scene, the other members also visited the set. Nagaya was embarrassed, but the other members were deeply moved, and Kobayashi Issei praised him, saying, "Nagaya had said beforehand that he didn't want the other members to see him acting, but when we arrived on set today, we could see him perfectly (laughs). We were watching from a position where Nagaya wouldn't notice, but it was just amazing. I thought, 'He's an actor!' He scored 120 points."
