Actor Takaya Matsutani will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 p.m. on Getsuku.
Matsutani, who worked behind the scenes in films while also working his way up as an actor, was chosen to play the lead role in "Glory Back Home" (directed by Jun Akiyama, currently in theaters), a film based on the life of former Hanshin Tigers player Yokota Shintaro, who retired due to a brain tumor. He had developed a close relationship with Yokota himself, but Yokota passed away two years ago at the young age of 28 without seeing the film completed. In the studio, thoughts of Yokota overflowed, and he tearfully shared his thoughts.
Matsutani's father was a former professional baseball player, so he dreamed of becoming a professional baseball player from a young age. He even played against Shohei Ohtani in high school. He injured his shoulder during college, quit baseball and college, and stayed at home with his parents, but he found strength in "Kamen Rider" and discovered a new dream: to become an actor.
