It has been announced that HJ Bunko (Hobby Japan)'s light novel "Haibara-kun's Strong and Youthful New Game" will be adapted into a TV anime series that will begin airing on TBS and other channels in April 2026. The story follows the protagonist, Natsuki Haibara, who failed to make a good start in high school and spent her youth in a bleak state. One day, she travels back in time to the day before she starts high school, where she has to start her high school life all over again. It has also been announced that Yuto Uemura will voice Natsuki Haibara, and Kanon Takao will voice the heroine, Yokari Hoshimiya.
The anime will be directed by Misuzu Hoshino, with series composition by Keiichiro Ochi, character design by Hiromi Ono, and music by Sonosuke Takao. It will be produced by Studio Comet.
A teaser visual featuring Hoshimiya Yokari and a teaser PV depicting Haibara Natsuki taking a new step after time-leaping just before entering high school have been released.
Original author Amemiya Kazuki commented, "Everyone!! 'Haibara-kun' is being made into an anime!! When I first heard about the anime adaptation, I was overwhelmed with surprise and joy. I would like to thank all the readers who have supported me up to this point and everyone who has worked hard to make the anime. I tried to participate in as many script meetings and dubbing sessions as possible, and with the help of the wonderful staff and cast, I have witnessed the process of it becoming a truly wonderful anime. I myself am looking forward to the broadcast. I hope that even more people than before will enjoy the anime version of 'Haibara-kun'! Thank you very much!"
Gin, who illustrated the original work, said, "Congratulations on the anime adaptation! I'm very happy that the work I was involved in will be spread in a new form. I'm looking forward to seeing how the anime will portray their colorfully coming-together youth!"
Uemura, who plays Haibara Natsuki, said, "Haibara Natsuki is the main character who struggles with conflict but does her best to do what she can at the time. I really like her energy and straightforward actions. While calmly analyzing her own introverted nature, she tries to cover up and act cool in front of her classmates, which sometimes causes her character to fall apart. I'm trying to play the role of the lovable main character, Haibara, while cherishing the range of his emotions. Please watch him grow!"
Takao, who plays Hoshimiya Yokari, said, "Yokari is the school's Madonna, a cute girl with a fluffy, natural cuteness. I think what makes Yokari so charming is that, despite her sparkling perfection, she occasionally shows very human emotions, so I will do my best to express Yokari's delicate emotional movements and cuteness to the best of my ability while keeping that humanity in mind!"
