On November 21st, Takuya Kimura appeared on stage to greet the audience on the opening day of the film "Tokyo Taxi," which was held at Marunouchi Piccadilly (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo). Yuka, who co-starred with him as a married couple, revealed a behind-the-scenes anecdote, and he blushed and laughed.
The film is director Yoji Yamada's 91st and latest work. Based on the French film "Paris Taxi" (2022), it is a human drama set in Tokyo depicting the "joys of life." The "one-day journey" of taxi driver Koji Usami (played by Kimura) and Sumire Takano (Chieko Baisho), who is heading to a nursing home, has a major impact on the hearts and lives of the two people who meet by chance.
Yuka, who plays Koji's wife Kaoru, shared an episode from filming with Kimura and Nakajima Runa, who plays his daughter, saying, "The three of us were always together in the waiting room." She continued, "We were eating gummy candy together. I was thinking, 'Kimura is eating too!' (laughs). Since we're playing family members, Kimura made sure the three of us were together the whole time. I thought that kind of consideration was wonderful," as Kimura, who was sitting next to her, smiled a little shyly.
Nakajima also smiled and said, "The two of them talked a lot, and each shoot became a special memory. Even when I felt down during filming, they would talk to me and I thought, 'It's Mom and Dad!'" Kimura reflected on the filming, saying, "The director adjusted the 'realistic temperature' of the family."
The main cast members Baisho, Aoi Yu, Takaya Sakoda, Misuzu Kanno, and director Yamada also appeared on stage to greet the audience.
