It was announced on November 18th that Ren Meguro of the popular group Snow Man will be appearing in season 2 of the drama "SHOGUN," produced and starring Hiroyuki Sanada.
Meguro will play Kazutada, who will make his first appearance in Season 2. Details of his role and background have yet to be announced, but will be announced in future updates.
"SHOGUN" is based on the bestselling novel of the same name by James Clavell. Set in Japan's Warring States period, the story revolves around three characters: Toranaga Yoshii (played by Sanada), a warlord modeled on Tokugawa Ieyasu, John Blackthorne (played by Miura Anjin, played by Cosmo Jarvis), a British navigator who is shipwrecked in Japan, and his interpreter, Mariko Toda (played by Hosokawa Gracia, played by Anna Sawai). The 10-episode drama, with dialogue mostly in Japanese, is available on Disney+ in Japan, and in addition to season 2, a third season has also been confirmed.

Last year, when I watched SHOGUN on Disney Plus, I was moved by the difference in how Japan has been portrayed overseas and its grandeur, and as a Japanese person myself, I felt strongly that I absolutely wanted to appear in this work. From there, I started researching articles about the team, Sanada Hiroyuki's thoughts and past activities, and SHOGUN.
I was given the opportunity to take part in auditions earlier this year, sending in videos and auditioning with the American team, and now that I've been selected to take part in my long-awaited role in SHOGUN, it really feels like a dream come true. For the past year, I have been imagining myself filming SHOGUN. I will take full advantage of what so many people have contributed, and cherish the work SHOGUN as I give form to the role I've been given. Everyone, please look forward to the release of SHOGUN 2.
