A preview and interview video have been released for the drama series "Shadow Work" (WOWOW), starring actress Mikako Tabe, which will begin airing on November 23rd. It has also been announced that a completion report meeting featuring Tabe, Yuki Sakurai, and other cast members will be live-streamed on November 17th.
Based on the novel of the same name by Edogawa Rampo Prize-winning author Hiromi Sano, this mystery depicts the "ultimate sisterhood" that wives suffering from domestic violence find in the depths of despair in order to survive. The story unfolds from two seemingly unrelated perspectives: "women regaining their lives in a house in Enoshima" and "a detective investigating the suspicious death of a woman discovered in Tateyama."
Tabe plays the protagonist, Noriko, who arrives at a shared house in Enoshima where women victims of domestic violence gather. The female detective, Kitagawa Kaoru, who could be considered the "other protagonist," is played by Yuki Sakurai, and her partner detective is played by Kawanishi Takumi of the boy band "JO1." The other residents of the shared house where Noriko lives are played by Terajima Shinobu, Triendl Reina, Uehara Miku, and Sudo Risa, and Ishida Hikari plays the person who guides the victims to the shared house.
The trailer is available on the official WOWOW YouTube channel. It shows Noriko, who barely escapes from her husband, meeting the residents of the share house, learning about their feelings and developing bonds with them. The trailer also gives the impression that Kaoru, who eventually becomes friends with Noriko, also harbors a certain deep-seated desire.
Additionally, exclusive interviews with the cast members talking about the behind-the-scenes production of the film are also available on WOWOW On Demand. Along with footage from the film and behind-the-scenes footage, Tabe, Sakurai, Kawanishi, Terashima, and Ishida look back on the filming. A digest version of the interviews is available on the official YouTube channel.
The completion report event will be streamed live on WOWOW's official Instagram account (@wowowofficial) and WOWOW's official LINE account from 6:00 PM on November 17th. Tabe, Sakurai, Kawanishi, Ishida, and Terashima will be in attendance.
"Drama W Shadow Work" (5 episodes in total) will be broadcast and streamed on WOWOW Prime and WOWOW On Demand every Sunday at 10pm starting November 23rd. The first episode will be broadcast and streamed for free.
