It has been announced that the TV anime series "I Was Banished from the Hero's Party Because They Said 'I Don't Think Someone Like You Can Defeat the Demon King,' So I Want to Live Carefreely in the Royal Capital," based on the light novel from GC Novels (Micro Magazine), will begin airing in January 2026. Additional cast members have also been announced, including Machico as Origin Church nun Sarah Ambiren, Masakazu Morita as West Ward A-rank adventurer Dain Finneas, and Honoka Inoue as West Ward Adventurer's Guild receptionist Ira Jerisin, with Kikuko Inoue providing the narration.
The idol group "PassCode" will be in charge of the opening theme "Liberator," and Yuki Tanaka will be in charge of the ending theme "I need." The key visual features Sarah, Flam, Milkit, Eterna, and the members of the hero party from which Flam was banished. The main PV has also been released, starting with Milkit's line, "Why did you take me away from there?" and Flam's line, "If I can make Milkit happy, then maybe I'll have a reason to live too."
The work is a light novel by Kiki, and is a dark fantasy about the protagonist, Flam, who, despite having zero ability, is chosen by a divine revelation to join the hero's party. However, he is betrayed by his companions and forcibly sold to a slave trader, but he uses the mysterious power he possesses - "reversal" - to turn his life around... The comic adaptation has also gained popularity.
