It has been announced that Butt Dandy the Young, a spin-off manga of Troll's popular picture book Oshiri Tantei, will be made into an anime. The manga is currently being serialized in the manga magazine Saikyo Jump (Shueisha), and depicts Oshiri Tantei's father, the adventurer Butt Dandy, in his younger days as a rookie investigator. Butt Dandy the Young will be made into an anime as a new addition to the TV anime Oshiri Tantei Detective, and will begin airing in April 2026. The announcement was made on November 4th, "Good Butt Day (1104)."
The image also shows the young adventurer Oshiri Dandy and his partner He-He on a raft down a rough river. It also shows the current Oshiri Dandy reminiscing about his younger days and talking to Oshiri Tantei and Brown.
"Oshiri Tantei" is based on a popular picture book that has sold over 30 million copies worldwide. Oshiri Tantei, a great detective whose face resembles a butt, solves difficult cases with his catchphrase, "Hmm, it smells." It airs every Saturday at 9:00 AM on NHK Educational TV.
