Singer Yutaro Miura appeared on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which aired on October 29th. He talked about his feelings when his daughter was born three years ago, and what his father, actor Tomokazu Miura, and mother, Momoe Yamaguchi, were like at the time.
Yutaro married voice actress Yui Makino five years ago. He was unable to be present at the birth due to the COVID-19 pandemic. While he was waiting at home, anxiously wondering if everything would be okay, he suddenly got a call from his wife saying, "The baby is about to be born."
"I could hear my wife screaming (in pain) over the phone. I couldn't do anything and was shaking, thinking how helpless I was. After about 10 to 15 minutes, I heard the baby crying. I was so relieved that I cried."
When Yutaro went to show his parents his grandchildren, Tomokazu and Momoe looked like something he had never seen before.
"They had the faces of my grandparents. They had those crumpled smiles and eyes that looked at something they loved, an expression I'd never seen before, and it really made an impression on me. They loved them so much."
Yutaro says he has never seen his parents fight. "I'm married now, and I want to build a relationship that will last forever," he said.
