Actor Hana Sugisaki attended the Tokyo Drama Awards 2025 ceremony held in Tokyo on October 28th. Sugisaki, who won the Best Supporting Actress award for her role in the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "Diamonds Sleeping in the Sea " which aired last October, spoke about her honest thoughts on being "evaluated" as an actor.
Sugisaki commented with joy, "Thank you for this wonderful award. I am already happy just to have been able to work with such an amazing team, but I am even more delighted to receive such a wonderful award."
Sugisaki has received numerous awards for her outstanding acting skills, but she confessed, "When I think about what evaluation means, it sometimes scares me, and I feel like I might become addicted to it." She sincerely expressed her feelings, saying, "I'm sure that if I continue in this job, those feelings will follow me, but I hope to keep a good distance from them and continue to work hard."
The Tokyo Drama Awards are an awards ceremony held for the 18th time this year to recognize outstanding television dramas, focusing on the quality of the work, marketability, and commercial viability, with the concept of "Japanese dramas that we want to show to the world."
The Grand Prix in the Best Drama Series category went to " Diamonds Sleeping in the Sea " (TBS), Ryunosuke Kamiki, which aired in October last year. The Best Actor award went to Tori Matsuzaka for " Mikami Sensei " (TBS), Nao for "Tokyo Salad Bowl" (NHK), Best Actress award went to Akihiro Kakuta for " The Hot Spot " (NTV), Best Screenplay award went to Roba Shimori for " Mikami Sensei," and Best Direction award went to Ayuko Tsukahara, director of "Diamonds Sleeping in the Sea."
