The 29th episode of NHK's evening drama "Someday, in Zero Gravity Sky" (General TV, Monday to Thursday 10:45pm), starring actor Kiriyu Aso, was broadcast on October 27th, and viewers were drawn to Asuka (Kiryu) and his team's decision to start the development over again with a different satellite camera.
The drama features four girls from the astronomy club who, in high school, shared their dream of "going to space together." As they grow up and go their separate ways, they suddenly reunite with their forgotten dreams. "If we had a micro-satellite, maybe even we could aim for space today..." Encouraged by their "older selves," they begin their second youth...
Kiryu plays the main character, Mochizuki Asuka, while Morita Nozomi plays Hibino Hikari, whom Asuka reunites with. Other cast members include Katayama Yuki as Mizuhara Shu, Ito Marika as Misato Morita, and Daiken Okudaira as Kanazawa Sui, a university student in a space engineering lab. The drama is narrated by Tasuku Emoto.
In episode 29, Asuka and her friends test the satellite to see if it works properly in space, but they encounter problems with the camera.
Amane and Haruko suggest that they launch it into space as is, as they cannot afford to redo the development. However, Sui opposes this, saying that if the camera does not work properly, they will not be able to keep their promise to Hikari to "see the Earth from space." Asuka is forced to make a decision as the leader, and her answer is...
Asuka decided to prioritize "launching the satellite" over the mission of "viewing the Earth from space" through the satellite's camera, but he was not 100% satisfied with the decision he had made.
Asuka worries about this, Umino Kaede (Fujitani Riko) from the space venture Satmore advises her, "In my case, I actually find that in times like these I tend to follow my intuition. No matter how logically you think, there are certain directions that you are drawn to. Just go in the direction your heart takes you. You can always add logic later."
Asuka then stands in front of Shu and Haruko and once again expresses her desire to start the development over again with a different camera.
Asuka continued, "We've always been reckless. It was an incredibly reckless challenge for us amateurs to try to build an artificial satellite, but we've come this far. So, even though it might be reckless, I'd like to change the camera and see the Earth from space." Amane and Haruko also accepted Asuka's idea... and so the conversation continued.
On social media, viewers commented, "Asuka: 'We've always been reckless,' That's true," "'We've always been reckless,' Those are powerful words," "Wow, this is Asuka's strength, and the strength of the astronomy club members... I was so engrossed in the story that 15 minutes flew by," "It's great that they can talk it out properly. It's different from usual and very moving," "Wow, what a great episode! It really touched my heart!" "It's a difficult situation, but these friends are the best. Do your best!" "The four of them started their reckless challenge. What kind of trajectory will they take?" and "Only three episodes left. I hope they can pull it off somehow." There are three episodes left in the drama.
