It has been announced that the film "Higuma!!" (directed by Eisuke Naito), starring Fuku Fuku Suzuki, which was scheduled to be released on November 21st, will be postponed. As the title suggests, the film features brown bears, and in light of the frequent occurrence of bear-related damage in Japan, the release date has been rescheduled.
On October 24th, the film's production committee announced, "We have decided to postpone the release date of the film 'Brown Bear!!', which was originally scheduled for November 21st, 2025. First of all, we would like to express our heartfelt sympathies to those who have been victims of bear attacks recently, and to the local residents who are living daily under bear sighting warnings. We take the situation where real damage continues very seriously, and after thorough discussions with all parties involved, we have decided to reschedule the release date so that people can enjoy the film in a calm environment."
Regarding the content of the film, the production committee explained, "This is a realistic thriller film that intertwines two modern fears: illegal part-time work and bear attacks. The story includes depictions of attacks and predation, but these are not intended to be extreme. The film is based on the allegory inherent in monster thrillers -- 'simulating reality through fear and reflecting human life.' We will create a screening environment where viewers can immerse themselves in the film with peace of mind, while taking into consideration reality."
The new release date will be announced "as soon as it is confirmed," and added, "Your existing movie tickets will still be valid, so please hold on to them. We ask for your continued support of the film 'Brown Bear!!'"
The film "Brown Bear!!" depicts the thrilling battle between Osanai (played by Suzuki), who takes on a "shady part-time job" to pay off the huge debt left by his father, and the extraordinary "strongest brown bear." The film also stars Wan Marui and Ukaji Tsuyoshi.
