The story is based on the manga of the same name by Natsuko Taniguchi, which is currently being serialized in the digital comic magazine Comic Tanto (Bunkasha). Yamagishi Ayumi (Kaho), who always puts her lover first, and Ebihara Katsuo (Takeuchi), who has a patriarchal mentality, have been dating since their university days. After living together, Katsuo proposes marriage, but Ayumi's response is an unexpected "no." Through cooking, Katsuo reexamines the things he took for granted and grows as a person.
Katsuo and Tsubaki, who met on a dating app, decided to go on a "home date." On the day of the date, Katsuo said, "This oden is my heart," and enthusiastically continued to talk about the preparations he had been making since the day before. He then asked Tsubaki, "Do you usually cook?" and when he found out that she had ordered pasta sauce, he sneered, "Well, you could say that you're cooking."
Annoyed, Tsubaki gets into an argument with Katsuo. "You can't even cook properly," and "I'm devastated by your lack of consideration. To put it simply, you have a bad personality," Katsuo says, and Tsubaki loses his temper, standing up and saying, "I'm going now." Seeing this, Katsuo reminisces about the time when he used to make all sorts of requests about Ayumi's cooking, and sobs, "Tsubaki is me. That's how Ayumi saw me. That's how I trampled on Ayumi's heart every day. I..."
When Tsubaki found out that Ayumi was Katsuo's ex-girlfriend, she picked up a bottle of sake and said in a strong voice, "Katsuo, let's have a drink!" The two then talked about their past relationships over drinks. He candidly revealed how he started using a dating app to forget his ex-girlfriend, and how he still loved her even though they had broken up.
"Isn't this friendship between us?" Tsubaki began. When Katsuo said that this might be his first female friend, Tsubaki smiled and said, "Nice to meet you. Broken-hearted friend. Cheers!"
On social media, the film became a hot topic, with comments such as, "Tsubaki-chan is the best! Katsuo has made his first good female friend," "I love Tsubaki-chan so much," "Ayami-chan is perfect for this role lol," and "Tsubaki is really good. This is a role that Ayami Nakajo will suit."
