A photo book focusing on the training wear of professional figure skater Yuzuru Hanyu, "Hanyu Yuzuru 2015-2025" (Kajisha), will be released on October 21st.
The photo book is a long-term project by Tanaka Nobuaki, the main photographer for "Ice Jewels," and it features a selection of photographs of Hanyu taken over the past 10 years, particularly those that focus on his "practice clothes."
Hanyu's practice is like a real competition, and sometimes even more so. A battle with himself, a battle with his limits, a battle with an unknown world... However, in between his fighting attitude and stern expressions, he also occasionally shows a relaxed look and a smile. We get a glimpse of his genuine expression and natural smile, which are different from those in competition.
