The original work is a manga of the same name by Natsuko Taniguchi, currently being serialized in the digital comic magazine Comic Tanto (Bunkasha). Yamagishi Ayumi, who always puts her lover first, and Ebihara Katsuo, who has a patriarchal mentality, have been dating since their university days. After living together, Katsuo proposed marriage, but Ayumi's response was an unexpected "no." Through cooking for himself, Katsuo reexamines the things he took for granted and grows as a person.
Ayumi, who has pink hair, visits Katsuo's house to return the key. When she tries to leave immediately, she is stopped by Shirasaki (Maehara Mizuki) and Minamigawa (Kyoka), who were already in Katsuo's room.
When Ayumi enters the room, she finds out that Katsuo, who until recently had openly declared that "it's natural for women to cook," has been making Chikuzenni every day since they broke up. Surprised by the change in Katsuo, Ayumi looks on sadly as she watches him happily converse with Shirasaki and Minamigawa.
"Hey, Ayumi, can you tell me how you made Chikuzenni? No matter what I do, it never tastes like yours. I wish you'd just tell me the recipe."
In response to Katsuo's offer, Ayumi said with a sad look on her face, "All I can say is that you'll teach me..."
On social media, people were talking about how "Kaho's acting, conveying her feelings through her facial expressions, really brought me to tears," "Katsuo is trying to change, but even though he's having fun and getting along with his juniors, Ayumi is left out and feels lonely...Kaho's facial expressions are so good it makes it even more painful," "I'm sure it was Katsuo's way of being considerate, but it's really heartbreaking to see Ayumi get the message that all she needs is to know the recipe for Chikuzenni," and "When he says 'only,' it really hurts."
