It has been revealed that Fumiya Takahashi Fumiya will play Asakura Shin, the partner of the protagonist Sakamoto Taro, played by Ren Meguro of the popular group Snow Man, in the live-action film "SAKAMOTO DAYS" (directed by Fukuda Yuichi). Takahashi shared his impression of Meguro, with whom he co-starred for the first time, saying, "When I first met him, I thought to myself, 'I just need to follow in his footsteps,' just like Shin in this film. Meguro is kind and caring, cool and good at action scenes; I have a lot of respect for him!"
"SAKAMOTO DAYS" is an action manga that Suzuki has been serializing in "Weekly Shonen Jump" since November 2020. The story follows Sakamoto Taro, a former legendary assassin who runs a shop after retiring, as he fights against approaching assassins with his friends to protect the peaceful daily life he lives with his beloved family. The comics have become a huge hit, with a total circulation of over 15 million copies worldwide. A TV anime adaptation was also broadcast in 2025.
Shin, played by Takahashi, is Sakamoto's partner and an assassin with exceptional fighting skills, as well as an esper who can read other people's thoughts. Takahashi, who played his first full-scale action role, said, "I struggled because I wasn't used to it, but I practiced and tried to embody at least some of Shin's cool side. During the filming period, I was able to create Asakura Shin with the support of many people, including Director Fukuda and Mr. Meguro."
The film is scheduled to be released during Golden Week in 2026.

My name is Fumiya Takahashi and I will be playing the role of Asakura Shin in the movie SAKAMOTODAYS.
When I heard about this work, I was filled with two emotions: surprise that it would be a live-action adaptation and joy that I would be able to play Asakura Shin. I think this is a work that you can fully enjoy, with the action scenes that are a major attraction of the original work and the comedy elements scattered throughout.
The character I play, Asakura Shin, is a kind and caring person who cares for his friends, but also has the psychic ability to read people's minds, and above all, he loves and respects Sakamoto-san very much.
And from my perspective, the lead actor, Meguro-san, is someone I respect very much. When I first met Meguro-san, I thought to myself, like Shin, "I just need to follow in his footsteps." Meguro-san is kind and caring, cool and can do action scenes, so he is someone I respect very much!
This was also my first time taking on a full-scale action role. I struggled at first because I wasn't used to it, but I practiced and tried to embody at least a little of Shin's cool side. During the filming period, I was able to create Asakura Shin with the support of many people, including Director Fukuda and Meguro-san. I hope that many people will enjoy this film.
