The drama series "Papa to Chichi no Uchigohan" (TV Asahi, Saturdays at 11pm), co-starring So Matsushima So of the popular eight-member group "timelesz" and actor Shirasu Jin, will begin airing on October 4th. The series is based on the manga of the same name (Shinchosha) by Toyoda Yu, who is known for "Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!." The drama is a family drama about two single fathers, Sengoku Satoshi (Matsushima), who runs an orthopedic clinic, and Harumi Masahiro (Shirasu), a manga editor who has divorced his wife and taken custody of his son, as they live together and struggle to raise their child.
Matsushima, who is known for his "youngest character" in his group Timelesz, takes on the role of a father for the first time, and takes on a new challenge with a character that overturns his usual image as a single father with a delinquent vibe. There is also a scene where Sengoku and Harumi struggle to cook for their children, and the delicious food that appears there is one of the highlights.
Prior to the broadcast, Matsushima commented, "I'm happy that people will be able to enjoy the worldview of the original work in live action, while paying close attention to its original worldview. I think it's a work that can encourage real moms and dads, so I hope you'll enjoy the warm atmosphere while being careful not to be "food-crazed" at 11pm!"
Shirasu said, "Everyone on set was having a really good time and getting along well. I think that happy atmosphere shines through in the footage. I hope that I can share that happiness with everyone. I would be happy if people, both those with children and those without, could feel the connection between family members, so I would love for everyone to watch it."
The cast will include Shuto Inomata from "timelesz" as Akutsu Tatsuya, a part-time worker at the osteopathic clinic run by Sengoku, Misako Renbutsu as Dan Yukari, the cooking class teacher that Sengoku and Harumi attend, Himena Irei as Yukari's younger sister Dan Akane, and Yamashita Rio as Maki, Sengoku's ex-girlfriend.
