Akari Takaishi stars in the NHK Asadora drama "Bakebake" (General TV, Monday to Saturday 8:00 AM and others) in the second half of 2025. On October 4th, we will look back on the first week, "Bushimusume, Urameshi." (September 29th to October 3rd).
"Bakebake" is the 113th morning Asadora. Based on the story of Yakumo Koizumi(Lafcadio Hearn) and his wife Setsu, the story follows a couple, with a love of ghost stories, as they go about their everyday lives together with their foreign husband. Takaishi plays the main character, Toki Matsuno, while Tommy Bastow plays Toki's husband, Lefkada Heaven.
The first week begins at the beginning of the Meiji era. Elementary school student Toki (Miharu Fukuchi) lives a poor life with her father, Tsukasanosuke(Takashi Okabe), mother, Fumi (Chizuru Ikewaki), and grandfather, Kan'emon (Fumiyo Kohinata), resenting the world around them. Tsukasanosuke makes a big decision to give Toki a good life.
Tsukasanosuke starts a business with his former subordinate, Kanari Hatsuemon (Tanaka Hosaki). Things seem to be going well, but he suddenly disappears from his family's sight. One day, Toki spots Tsukasanosuke on her way to school. However, Tsukasanosuke stubbornly refuses to go home. The reason is...
Fast forward to 1886, and Toki (Takaishi) is working at a weaving factory run by his relative , Den Ushimizu(Shinichi Tsutsumi), to pay off his debts.
Toki and the Matsuno family are still struggling to survive in the face of their enormous debts. Then, debt collector Moriyama (Iwatani Kenji) appears and demands that Toki be sent to the brothel to repay the debt. Toki proposes that she take a husband who will work for her in order to repay the debt. To start with, she decides to have a famous love fortune told with her coworkers Chiyo (Kurasawa Anna) and Sen (Adachi Kino), but...
