Talent Katsumata Kazukazu will appear on Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 p.m. on October 2nd.
Katsumata turned 60 in March and received 12 birthday celebrations from prominent figures in the entertainment industry. He said he was especially happy to receive congratulations from former members of "CHA-CHA." They have been close friends since they debuted as idols at age 23, and there was excitement over the possibility of a group reunion.
He believes his birthday is a day to express his gratitude to his mother for giving birth to him, so he invited her on a family trip and gave her a letter of thanks. A few years ago, his mother expressed a desire to visit Sendai, where he lived around the time of his birth. At the time, she was in poor health and in a wheelchair, so he encouraged her to train so that they could go together when she was able to walk. As a result, he recalls, not only were they able to walk to the place that holds so many memories, but they were also able to take a commemorative photo in the same place where his mother held Katsumata as a baby. The program also includes past footage of his siblings talking about how they were afraid of their strict father.
