The popular NHK variety show "Bura Tamori" (General), in which TV personality Tamori visits various neighborhoods, will air a segment titled "Tokyo's Kagurazaka: How Did This Hidden Gorgeous District for Adults Come to Be? The Secret Behind the Birth of the Red Light District" on September 27th at 7:30 PM. The setting is Kagurazaka, Tokyo. One of the most popular areas in Tokyo, with stylish restaurants lining the backstreets, the show delves into the origins of the slope, as well as the secrets behind the birth of the red light district, hidden by its maze-like alleys and mysterious cliffs.
On this day's program, we explore how Kagurazaka, a neighborhood with an atmosphere that truly feels like a "hideaway for adults," came to be. We explore its secrets through the town's history and topography. Tamori and his friends discover traces of the feudal lord's residence that the third shogun, Iemitsu, frequented. They then visit a former restaurant that still retains the atmosphere of the golden age of the entertainment district. They also meet Kagurazaka geisha.
Tamori's travel partner will be NHK Hiroshima announcer Mana Sato, and the narration will be provided by singer-songwriter Aimyon.
