TV Asahi held a briefing on its October programming changes on September 10th at the station (Minato Ward, Tokyo), where they explained the new program "Aiba Hiromi's Problems Car?" (Thursdays at 7pm) which will start in October, starring talent Hiromi and Aiba Masaki of the popular group Arashi.
The show is a "hands-on helper variety show" in which the two MCs strive to solve the problems of people all over the country. Since the first episode aired on December 31, 2023, four special episodes have been aired so far, and they have received a lot of attention for their content in which they do their best to solve people's problems, such as cleaning up the dilapidated garden of a long-established inn.
General director Miyazaki Koichi appeared at the briefing to explain the schedule changes. He shared an anecdote from the shoot, saying, "When we were talking in the car about why we had accepted this program, Aiba said to Hiromi with a straight face, 'I want to see people's happy faces. If it means I can sacrifice myself for that, I'll do my best.' Hiromi then said, 'From now on in our entertainment careers, what can we do for people? We have to keep thinking about that,' and that made a big impression on me."
Miyazaki recalled being "deeply moved" by the two's words, commenting, "Just as they said, the two of them try to solve the problems of the people they meet with love and compassion, and they never compromise. Even we, the staff, are amazed by their attitude."
He also revealed some behind-the-scenes stories, saying, "Aiba-san came within a limited time frame, but because he wanted to do something about this problem, he even sacrificed his private life to visit ordinary people. Because he went there at short notice, we sometimes had to follow Aiba-san around with just one camera and one smartphone."
When asked, "You'll be even busier as Arashi approaches its culmination, are you OK?", Aiba replied, "I have my big brother (Hiromi) with me, so I'll do my best!" After the lineup briefing that day, he had a two-hour meeting with Hiromi and Aiba, and commented, "That's how enthusiastic he is."
