◇The following contains spoilers
Jiu (Iura Arata) uses his ability to instantly switch bodies to avoid Saiki and Jinnai's attacks. Jinnai tells Saiki, "That body swap is so annoying."
"I'm wondering who I'll switch places with. It's a one-third choice. Saiki Yuto, Jinnai Teppei, or no switching at all. I'll count to 10, and then we'll decide my fate," Jiu says happily.
Saiki and Jinnai work together to close in on Jiu. However, Saiki is caught by Jiu, who has full control of his supernatural powers. At the moment Jiu transforms his hand into a blade and tries to stab Saiki, Jinnai takes his place. "No, Jinnai!" Saiki yells, but Jinnai has no chance to respond.
The ending is a complete reversal. Saiki, holding a bouquet, spots Jinnai sitting on a bench. Noticing Saiki, Jinnai touches Saiki's bouquet and says, "Sorry. Oh, that." Saiki says, "I don't know what kind of flowers you like, Kaori (Jinnai's late wife, Iriyama Noriko)." Jinnai smiles back and says, "I'm sure she'll be happy." When Saiki wants to hear about his love life with Kaori, Jinnai retorts, "Are you in high school?", and the two are portrayed as the same old couple.
On social media, people were excited, saying things like, "The final episode was amazing...! I cried at the last scene," "It was so touching. I'm glad Jinnai is still alive," "Jinnai was so cool. Tomoya Nakamura is too good for this kind of role," "I want to see a sequel to DOPE. I love the pairing of Tomoya Nakamura and Takahashi Kai," and "I'm sad that DOPE is over. I'm sad that Jinnai and Saiki are gone."
