The second key visual for the second season of the TV anime " Dandadan ," based on the popular manga by Yukinobu Tatsu , currently being serialized on Shueisha's manga app "Shonen Jump+," has been released. The visual, with a slightly rough design that evokes the era, shows a robot and what appears to be a monster facing off against each other. The face of new character Kinta Sakata is faintly visible in the background, with Momo, Okarun, Turbo Granny, Aira, and Jiji, who are posing for some reason, looking up at them. It was also announced that Daichi Fujiwara will play the new character Kinta Sakata.
Sakata Kinta is a classmate who comes to Okarun, who is good friends with Momo and Aira, to ask him how to be popular with beautiful women, and he tries to find out why the unattractive Okarun is so popular. Fujiwara, who plays Kinta, said, "Kinta is a proper otaku, as he is recognized by himself and others. I think he is a man with unwavering beliefs and passion, and a strong resolve that does not give in to loneliness." He continued, "First of all, I tried to cherish that nobility. Also, Kinta's charm lies in his narcissism, his passionate talk about the things he likes, and his rantings when people around him treat him badly - his roller coaster-like emotional changes, so I kept that in mind when I played him."
The climax trailer for the second season, featuring Kinta, has also been released on YouTube. The video begins with Kinta making an enthusiastic entrance, and shows how the sci-fi lover Kinta gets involved with the seemingly unassuming Okarun, who loves the occult. After learning about the "Golden Ball," the trailer shows how Momo, who has psychic powers, and the transformed Okarun become embroiled in a battle against a space monster. Aila and Jiji also appear transformed.
"Dandadan" began serialization in "Shonen Jump+" in April 2021. It depicts Momo, a high school girl from a family of psychics, and her classmate Okarun, an occult enthusiast, as they confront one mysterious phenomenon after another. The comic has sold over 10 million copies in total.
The first season of the TV anime aired on the MBS/TBS late-night anime slot "Super Animeism TURBO" from October to December 2024. The second season is currently airing in the same slot.
