◇The following contains spoilers
The real culprit who killed Jinnai's wife, Kaori (Iriyama Noriko), was Tokura (Koike Teppei). Jinnai tries to kill Tokura, but Saiki (Takahashi) tries to persuade him.
Saiki, who uses his psychometry ability to see the past associated with objects when he touches them, learns about Jinnai and Kaori's past. "After you shoot Tokura, you're also planning to die, right? The person Jinnai can't forgive is not Tokura or Hongo (Sano Kazuma). It's Jinnai himself," he says.
Jinnai shed tears and said, "Life is unfair, isn't it? I haven't done anything wrong. In fact, I believe I have dedicated my life as a police officer to the peace of society. I don't want anything special. I just wanted to live a normal, happy life with Kaori and our unborn child."
"If you live your life to the fullest and remember Kaori from time to time, I'm sure Kaori will be smiling inside of you. Jinnai, let's live." Jinnai decided to accept Saiki's persuasion for the first time.
However, when Saiki tried to take Tokura away, Jinnai's expression changed in an instant. Just as Saiki sensed something was wrong and asked, "Jinnai-san? What's wrong?", Jinnai shot Tokura dead. Jinnai came to his senses and asked Saiki in disbelief, "Did I do this...?"
Later, Saiki finds out that Jinnai was being manipulated by Jiu (Iura Arata) at the moment he shot Tokura. Social media has been buzzing with comments such as, "Jinnai was clearly being manipulated by something at that moment," "Just when I thought it was all right, something unexpected happened!", "Awesome Tomoya Nakamura," "Episode 7 gave me goosebumps, Tomoya Nakamura is amazing," "Saiki and Jinnai, I was drawn in by the overflowing emotions they each showed!" and "Tomoya's Jinnai is so cool it made me shiver."
The story is based on the novel of the same name (Kadokawa Bunko) by Kizaki Chiaki, who made her debut as a novelist after winning the Grand Prize at the 20th Dengeki Novel Awards for her work "Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens." Set in a near-future Japan where a mysterious new drug called "DOPE" is rampant, the story follows rookie drug enforcement officer Saiki Yuto of the secret Narcotics Control Department's Special Investigation Division (Special Investigation Division) and his trainer Jinnai Teppei as they attempt to solve a mysterious case.
