"Anpan" Episode 88: A once-in-a-lifetime proposal to Takaganobu

The 88th episode of the NHK Asadora drama series "Anpan " (General TV, Monday to Saturday at 8:00 AM and other times), starring Mio Imada , was broadcast on July 30th, and viewers were moved by the scene in which Takashi ( Takumi Kitamura) proposes to Nobu (Imada).

In episode 88, Taka, who has just started working in the advertising department of Samsung Department Store, reassures Nobu, who has a complicated expression on her face, by saying, "No matter how busy I am, I'll keep drawing manga."

Meanwhile, Taka, who has been introduced to a room in a tenement house in Nakameguro by a colleague at work, begins to tell Nobu, "I have something important to tell you..." Then Tomiko (Nanako Matsushima) arrives and they talk about the wedding favors for Taka and Nobu. However, the two of them have a lukewarm reaction, and Tomiko realizes that Taka has not yet proposed to Nobu, and is surprised, saying, "Could it be... not yet?"

When Nobu says that he thinks Taka feels awkward around Jiro (Ayumu Nakajima), Taka responds, "Nobu-chan, you've kept Jiro's photo... ever since I came here." Taka says that he loves Nobu even more now that she married Jiro because she loved him, and asks, "So please don't be shy and proudly display Jiro's photo."

She continued, "There's one more thing... there's something I couldn't tell you, Nobu-chan," revealing that Chihiro (Motoki Nakazawa), who died in the war, also loved Nobu. Takashi learned of Chihiro's strong feelings and was unable to confess them to Nobu, but Ranko (Yuumi Kawai) encouraged him. Takashi then bowed his head and said, "Mom... please leave us alone just for today. I'm sorry," and asked Tomiko to leave the room.

When they are alone in the room, Taka faces Nobu and tells her how he feels.

"Nobu-chan, I... have been pushed by so many people to get to where I am today... And I found courage... It's pathetic, but I don't think I could have conveyed my feelings to you on my own. But... I know your strengths and weaknesses better than anyone. I know the tears you hide from anyone. I know your love for wanting to help everyone. And your straightforward sense of justice. I love everything about you... everything about you. So there's something I must say to you. Nobu-chan... You always run straight and single-mindedly, and I've always loved you, ever since we were children. For Chihiro's sake, and for Jiro's too... I will make you happy. Marry me."

Nobu smiled with tears streaming down his face, bowing his head and saying, "I know I'm a clumsy person, but please accept my sympathy." Taka also shed tears, and the 88th episode ended with the two of them smiling happily together.
