"AS ONE" theme song written by JO1's Ruki Shiroiwa

It has been revealed that Ruki Shiroiwa of the global boy band JO1, who voices the main character You, will be performing the theme song "Junsei" for the animated film "AS ONE" (directed by Kobun Shizuno, set to premiere on August 22nd). The theme song "Junsei" was written by Shiraiwa under the name "RUKI", and he commented, "I put the most importance on the worldview of the film when I wrote the lyrics and the music. I think that after watching the film, people will think that the song matches the film well." The official trailer was released, and the song was unveiled.

The trailer begins with a scene in which Lako, a young girl who lives as a robot mechanic on Meguriboshi, a planet floating in space, says, "I wanted to hear You's song again," to which You, a high school student on Earth who aspires to be a musician but is worried about his uncertain future, responds, "I'll definitely deliver it to you one day!" As the theme song "Meguriboshi" plays, the two are depicted meeting, guided by fate. Scenes of aerial robot battles and car chases are also shown, along with ominous lines such as, "They're about to start a fight over your power," and "You two must prevent that terrible future."

A key visual of You and Lako joining hands was also released. Stars and robots are drawn behind them, and the copy reads, "When his song resonates, the two of them's 'destinies' begin to move."

The film is based on the arcade game " Starwing Paradox " (Square Enix), whose character designs were done by Yoshiyuki Sadamoto , who is also known for the " Evangelion " anime series. Shizuno, known for " Detective Conan : Crimson Love Letter" and other works, will be the director, and the story will be completely original, depicting the events 20 years before the original. Sadamoto will be in charge of character design, and all characters will be revamped. The film depicts the fate of two people who should never have met: You, a high school student living on Earth, and Lako, a girl who lives on a planet called Junsei, which exists far away in space. Shiraiwa will play the main character You, and Shiraishi Haruka will play Lako. Voice actors include Takeuchi Shunsuke, Hikasa Yoko, and Ryuhei Maruyama of the popular group "SUPER EIGHT."

"Starwing Paradox" began operation in 2018. It is an action game in which players control robots and fight against each other on a battlefield in far-flung space where "fights" are fought over the energy contained within the stars. The world setting and animation were handled by Sunrise, the mechanics were designed by Kagami Ippei of "Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans" and Ishigaki Junya of "Xenogears", and the theme song was written by Kanno Yoko and Kodama Amako, bringing together a star-studded staff.
